The tradition behind Brahmi & Shikakai
Where Kesh Amrit follows the oiling half of the Indian hair tradition, this concept follows the washing half. Shikakai — literally "fruit for hair" — was the household cleanser of Punjab and much of India long before commercial shampoo, used as a soaked pod or milled powder. The concept reinterprets that lineage as a modern leave-in serum rather than a wash, so the material appears in a form the tradition never used while the intent behind it is preserved.

- Brahmi
- The cooling, calming material of the pair, and the reason the concept is directed at scalps that feel uncomfortable rather than simply dry.
- Shikakai
- The traditional Indian hair-cleansing fruit, carried here for its conditioning association rather than its historic cleansing role — this is a leave-in concept, not a wash.
- Neem Leaf
- Used at a lighter touch than in Kesh Amrit, to keep the balancing character of the scalp tradition without the weight or the stronger green aroma of a full oil infusion.
How the ritual is intended to work
Designed as the lighter, everyday counterpart to Kesh Amrit: applied to a damp scalp and left in, with no wash-out step. In a professional setting it is intended as a finishing application after a treatment, or as the retail recommendation for a client whose scalp cannot tolerate a heavy pre-wash oil. At home it is intended for use between oiling rituals rather than instead of them.
Texture, aroma and finish
Envisaged as a genuinely light, fast-absorbing fluid rather than an oil — the concept exists precisely because a scalp oil is too heavy for some clients. The aroma is intended to stay green and clean, carrying Shikakai's characteristic slightly tart, herbaceous note.
Format and presentation
Intended as a lightweight applicator bottle suited to sectioned, along-the-parting application. Whether that is a nozzle, a dropper or a fine mist is still open, and is one of the specific questions the trade survey asks.
Suitability and safety
Shaped for adult scalps that feel dry, tight or uncomfortable, and for anyone who finds a traditional pre-wash oil too heavy. Intended for external topical use on the scalp only. A patch test ahead of first use is advised, and the finished formulation will carry a full INCI declaration and allergen information once the UK cosmetic safety assessment is complete.
